Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill KSC, JP is a distinguished academic and administrator, currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, he has dedicated over three decades to advancing medical education, research, and institutional leadership. His academic journey began at the University of Port Harcourt, where he earned a B.Sc in Pharmacology, an MBBS in Medicine, an MSc, and a Doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology. His commitment to scholarship and service has earned him numerous fellowships and honours, including FRSB (UK), FIIA, MSIOP (Italy), MIAMSE (USA), MSMR (London), and FWASOT.

Professor Georgewill has held several key positions within the academic and public sectors. At the University of Port Harcourt, he has served as Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Deputy Provost of the College of Health Sciences, and Associate Dean of Student Affairs. He was also a member of the University’s Governing Council and previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences at Niger Delta University. His leadership extends beyond academia, having served as Honourable Commissioner in the Rivers State Commission of Enquiry, where he contributed to public policy and governance.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Professor Georgewill has made significant contributions to medical research and education. He began his professional journey as a Registrar at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and has since become a respected voice in pharmacological studies, mentoring generations of medical professionals and researchers. His scholarly work and administrative acumen have positioned him as a pillar of excellence within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
